Study shows cancer low among Amish community
MILLERSBURG -- With an ancestral pool of only about 100 people, researchers expected to see higher than normal rates of cancer among Amish in Holmes County. After more than 10 years of study, they found just the opposite. Instead of identifying a commonly occurring cancer, researchers found rates of non-tobacco- and tobacco-related cancers were less than the general population.  Read Story.

A winter trip to Berlin
Ohio's Holmes and Wayne counties, as well as portions of their surrounding counties, are home to the largest concentration of Amish in the world. In Holmes County, Berlin is the hub of activity of the Amish and "English" alike. A trip to Berlin during January and February is wonderful for many reasons. First of all, it will get you out of the house and help chase away those winter "blahs." Second, there won't be as many people there as in the summer.
