Many of the local shops and roadside markets in Amish Country sell pure Maple Syrup, in many cases, locally made. In late February, March, and April, Ohio and Ohio's parks are sponsoring a variety of maple syrup related events across the state.

Off the beaten track on a country road west of Killbuck, Scott and Kathy Buente own and operate French Ridge Vineyards and Winery. The adventure began in 2001 when the couple, with the help of a few family members and neighbors, planted about 3,000 grape vines on their property in one weekend.

Sugarcreek was first founded by Swiss and German settlers who began immigrating to the area in the mid-1800s, bringing their skilled craftsmen and trades. The Swiss settlers put their cheese making knowledge to work and produced cheese from the milk supplied by the local farming community.
